Inmate furloughs must be approved by a judge through a court order. Inmates requesting a furlough must contact their attorney to initiate the furlough process. The sheriff does not possess the authority to grant furloughs for any inmate.

Note: On extremely rare occasions, as in the death of an immediate family member, an inmate classified by the Tennesse Department of Corrections as a parole violator may be granted a brief furlough.
