The
High School Law Enforcement Explorer Club has been in operation
since 2001 and has established recogniton through-out the
community for some of the services it provides such as
security at elementary functions and Pee Wee sporting events
as well as public events and activities such as High on
the Hog, Dogwood Festival, Jonathan Acklin Fishing Rodeo,
etc. Having monitored activities such as ballgames and
other programs that the members of the Explorer Club have
participating in. Considering that it is very important
that attendance to all requirements is essential, the members
of the Explorer Club also have a responsibility to other
school organizations and make ever effort to attend or
participate in each club activities with limited absences
.
In
additional to the following participation this organized Law Enforcement
Explorer Club consist of selected students attending Franklin
County High School ages 15 thru 18, these students display
a interested in law enforcement careers or higher education
in legal fields of interest such as becoming attorney’s
or crime scene investigation specialist.
As an incentive
for being a member of the Franklin County Sheriff’s
Department Explorer Club (Post) high school students from
Franklin County High School must meet the following criteria:

Be enrolled at Franklin County High School.

Minimum grade 10th.
-
Qualified to take Legal Protective Course (Criminal Justice).
-
9th Graders may apply to be accepted upon
entering 10th Grade.

10th Graders eligible to enroll in Legal Protective
Level I.
-
11th Graders eligible to enroll or have completed
Level II.
-
12th Graders eligible to enroll or have completed
Level III.
-
Maintain a “C” Average during
semester and/or successfully pass Legal Protective Course
Level or successfully pass Law Enforcement Entry Exam.
-
Have a good morale attitude and high expectation of good
behavior.
-
Accept constructive criticism and capable of confidentiality.
-
Be willing to participate in training activities such
as the Beginners Police Academy and other community activities
as needed.

Financially able to purchase uniforms and accessories
as required.
-
Able to be honest and truthful as well as willing to
learn.
-
They may also address their morals, family values and
future plans after graduation from high school.

This
Club meets on Saturdays at 9:00 a.m. for training
and as required for announcements of project participation.

The
Explorer Club has participated in the Tennessee State
Law Enforcement Explorer Club Competition twice 2003
and 2005 helded in Knoxville, Tennessee. In the year
2003 the explorer club won Three 1st Places
and two 2nd Places as a team and two individual
2nd and 3rd Places, the events
were SWAT Team Bluilding Search, Crime Scene Investigation,
Felony Vehicle Stops, Domestic Violence Investigation,
Best Looking Uniform Competition and Weapon Shooting
Competition. In 2005 the club took one 2nd place
and one 3rd place those being Sniper Team
Shooting 2nd Place and Team Hand Gun Shooting
3rd Place.
