     The Franklin Co. Sheriff’s Office provides a child identification service to all elementary school students in Franklin County. The service covers children from Pre-K through the 5^th grade. A permission slip and information sheet is sent home with each student well before the I.D. event at each school explaining to parents the reason for the I.D. and the benefit. There is no charge for the service and parents will receive two I.D. cards at the conclusion of the event.

     The value of the Child I.D. system is it gives parents the ability to disperse information about their child to the proper authorities if that need should ever arise. Law enforcement can share the information in a much shorter amount of time which is critical in these types of situations. If any parent has a question about the Child I.D.
